Holiday Health Can Be Simple!

It’s the long weekend coming up. Time to spend a few minutes planning for the weekend – not just what you are going to do and how much fun its going to be; but also:

  1. Food and snacks – we are travelling 9 hours to the in laws; so I made ‘chocolate balls’ out of medical food, raw chocolate and almond butter with Omega 3 oils; packed fruit, and making roast chicken and sweet potato oven ‘fries’ for along the way
  2. Activity – when and how much will you fit in? We are carrying the snow suits since there’s 3.5 feet of snow where we are going so we will have outdoor fun and activity, with a hike or 2.
  3. Rest time – make sure to get some self care in! A long bath away from the bustle and booze maybe? I’m carrying bath salts and a candle! We will also sit in a circle with the kids and do breathing exercises in the morning – bond as a family, and get in the mindfulness…

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Here is the recipe for the Chocolate balls:

1/4 C almond butter
2 scoops of Chocolate Optimum Power powder
2 tbsp Nutrevege Omega 3 oil – orange flavor (or almond oil or walnut oil or graprseed oil)
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 tbsp sliced almonds
2 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp raw cacao nibs
1 tbsp agave syrup or equivalent of stevia
Mix together to form a sticky almost dry dough. If too dry, add 1/2 to 1 tbsp oil or a tbsp at a time of almond milk. If too moist, add 1 tbsp chia and let sit.

Form into balls or cookie like shapes, refrigerate and serve cold.
