This is a gentle and non-invasive procedure with virtually no down time. In most cases, you will be able to return to work, apply cosmetics or resume most of your other activities right away.

Simply avoid direct heat and the sun for 24 hours after the treatment: no hot baths or showers, no removing dishes from a steaming hot dishwasher… Stay cool. We will apply the proper sun protection for you to go home safely.

Your next step is to not be in direct sun for 3 weeks after your treatment.

Treatment Expectations

After the treatment, you may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions, you will see a darkening of the treated areas, followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage. Your treated skin will be smoother, fine wrinkles and pores will be less noticeable, and sun spots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your condition, the number of treatments needed and the areas which are treated. Comfort Level

This procedure is gentle, non-invasive and safe. There should be minimal discomfort or no discomfort, however this varies from patient to patient and depends on the depth of the treatment. There is no need for topical anaesthesia, but your physician will discuss the best options during your consultation.

The Procedure

Your eyes will be protected with a safety shield or glasses. You may briefly feel a motion not unlike snapping a rubber band, or a warm sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Depending on the size of the area being treated and the type of procedure performed, this treatment time can range from a few minutes up to thirty minutes. The physician will discuss all of your options during your consultation.

Care Following The Procedure

It is important to follow your physician’s instructions and home care prescription.

You may be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. This will minimize your risk of inflammation or redness and ensure the shortest healing time. You will be sensitive to ultra-violent light and you must avoid direct sun exposure until you are fully healed. Fully cover your skin or use a good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors.
