Dr. Shabnam Das Kar MD, FMNM

Dr. Kar started her career as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist. She often laughs when she says, “I didn’t know much about a patient above the belt, just below!”
Having been certified in Functional Medicine, she teaches about the ‘silo’ approach of conventional medicine where everything is looked at in compartments, with the difference being that in Functional Medicine, she is a ‘super-generalist’ needing to know about all systems and how they tie together.
 
As Director of Medical Education at Live Younger, for the last 10 years; her academic and research-based nature adds to the updated protocols for patients.
She enjoys hosting teaching workshops and webinars has her own podcast, and is currently authoring her first book on Women’s health.
Dr Kar’s areas of special interest include brain health and fitness, and cardiometabolic medicine. (Diabetes and heart disease).
She has a diverse set of skills, with an interest in wearables and AI. She is an Adviser to Health Tech Startups.
 
As an International Speaker, she has presented at Women’s health conferences to doctors and pharmacists in Dubai, Singapore, Bali, and in India.
